What Is Menopause?

Menopause is a natural phase in a woman’s life when her ovaries cease producing eggs and essential hormones, including estrogen and progesterone. As a result, menstrual periods cease, and fertility declines.

The transition into menopause, known as perimenopause, can span several years. During this period, hormone levels fluctuate and gradually decrease. Perimenopause can commence as early as a woman’s late 30s or early 40s and continues until her final menstrual cycle.

Modani Naturals Wild Yam Cream is a natural supplementary herbal product to help support your body to manage and cope with some of the discomforts of menopause. Wild Yam Root is high in phytoestrogens, which are plant-based substances that act like estrogen, a hormone that decreases during menopause.

Modani’s Wild Yam Cream is made from many beneficial auryvedic herbs and in particular Wild Yam Root. This is the root of the wild yam plant (Dioscorea villosa), which has a compound called diosgenin.

Diosgenin may help support your body to help stabilise or balance estrogen levels and other hormones depending on what your body needs.

This together combined with a healthy diet, exercise and sufficient sleep may help you cope with some of the uncomfortable symptoms associated with menopause such as hot flashes, night sweats, mood changes, brain clarity, vaginal dryness, and more.

Does wild yam cream really work?

Wild yam cream is a popular natural alternative to estrogen therapy and managing symptoms of menopause, PMS, and other hormonal conditions.

Anecdotal evidence suggests many people around the world may find relief using wild yam cream.

How to use

For menopause support

You can start this Wild Yam Cream at any time. Continue to use it 2-3 times per day, even when you start to feel better. It’s important to apply daily for this cream to work. Make it apart of your daily routine.

Apply daily 3 times daily - in the morning, afternoon and at night before bed.

Each application is approximately <1/2 tsp each. You can split this up and use approx *<1/4 tsp per inner arm, wrists or inner thighs or either side of your neck (crease in your shoulder).

* <1/4 tsp is roughly the size of the back of your pinky fingernail.

Massage in and enjoy the soothing sensation and the subtle calming fragrance of the cream as it works its magic. Let is absorb briefly before dressing.

Example: <1/4 tsp to each inner arm/elbow, each wrist or to each side of your neck.

Need an afternoon top up? No problem! Dab a small amount onto your wrists to get you through. See the new handy small 40g size for on the go top ups.

For PERI/PMS

If you are new to using this Wild Yam Cream, to simplify the process, start the cream when your period stops. Then apply (see above) twice daily, mornings and night, for PERI/PMS support and break again during your period. Start the process again when your period stops. Dab a small amount onto your wrists in the afternoon if needed.

Based on my own experience (I'm menopausal) and genuine testimonials, hot flashes and night sweats may start to decrease and become less severe within a week, but for some people it may take longer, up 3-4 months/or cycles.

  • You may also notice that your flushes become less intense, or they stop before reaching their peak.
  • You may notice mental clarity, focus and concentration may start to improve.
  • Some possible benefits are better sleep quality, increased energy and enhanced mood.
  • Many women report that their hot flashes, being the most common symptom of menopause decrease in severity, less frequent and are less intense. Please note it's rare that they cease altogether. If they have stopped for you completely, then you are one of the lucky ones!

*Please do not use this cream if you have a hormone-related medical condition or cancers. If you are unsure, please seek medical advice from your GP.

Ingredients

What’s in the Wild Yam Cream?

We use a blend of premium Ayurvedic herbs (35%) with Wild Yam Root as the primary ingredient.

These herbs work together to support the body holistically. Instead of using purchased extracts with additives, I personally infuse oils using a traditional method, ensuring full control over the ingredients.

These potent infusions are then blended with oils, butters, and powders for a luxurious texture.

Wild yam root (Dioscorea villosa) is rich in diosgenin, a phytoestrogen and natural precursor to DHEA, a hormone that regulates testosterone and estrogen. Traditional healers have used wild yam for centuries to help balance women’s hormones, potentially impacting overall well-being.

How does it work

The cream is typically applied to thin skin areas like the neck, inner upper arms, and wrists for easy absorption.

  • Wild Yam Root contains a compound called diosgenin and it is believed that it can be absorbed through the skin. Once absorbed, diosgenin may act as a phytoestrogen, our happy hormone, which are plant-derived compounds similar to estrogen.
  • This compound can interact with estrogen receptors in the body, potentially influencing the secretion of hormones like estrogen and progesterone. Specifically, diosgenin has been noted to bind to estrogen receptors in the hypothalamus, which may help support your body to regulate symptoms associated with menopause and premenstrual syndrome.

The other significant herbs that work in synergy with Wild Yam Root include:

  • Chaste tree (Vitex agnus-castus): Supports menstrual health and balances estrogen and progesterone.
  • Red clover (Trifolium pratense): Rich in isoflavones, helps regulate menopausal symptoms.
  • Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera): Calms the mind, reduces stress, enhances focus, and promotes heart health.
  • Shatavari (Asparagus racemosus): Balances hormones, regulates menopausal symptoms, and enhances female health.
  • Black Cohosh (Cimicifuga racemosa): Manages menopause symptoms and improves hormonal balance.
  • Chamomile: Calms and aids sleep.
  • Plant oils: Infused in olive, grapeseed, apricot, and jojoba oils for maximum therapeutic properties.
  • Shea, Cocoa, and Mango Butters: Create a balanced, non-greasy base.
  • Coconut oil: Moisturizes and locks in moisture.
  • Castor oil: Moisturizes and enhances the absorption of the herbs.  It also has antibacterial properties and high in antioxidants.
  • Beeswax: Attracts moisture and provides a stable base.
  • Arrowroot powder: Reduces greasiness for a smooth texture.
  • Essential Oils: Lavender, Rose Geranium, and Cedarwood for relaxation and stress reduction.
  • Vitamin E: Antioxidant that stabilizes the product and moisturizes the skin.

This cream is waterless, so no preservatives are used in the formulation. Shelf life is 6-9 months or possibly longer if correctly stored. One tin should last approximately 3 months with regular daily use.

It's best to store in a cool dry area as much as possible out of direct sunlight under 28 degrees.
